The BSP facility has experience isolating high molecular weight genomic DNA from a variety of sources including whole blood, buccal swabs and rinses, blood spots, and immortalized cells which has been shown to be reliably PCR amplified and genotyped using multiple platforms including TaqMan, Illumina GoldenGate, GWAS, and exome and whole genome sequencing. We additionally have extensive experience extracted RNA from a variety of sources including, PAXgene blood tubes, bronchcoscopy specimens, FFPE slides and cores, and dental plaque.

The BSP facility utilizes a specimen tracking system designed specifically to meet the immediate, inventory-style tracking needs of multiple health research projects and to be flexible and extendible for future needs. Please see our Equipment page for more information.
