The BSP facility contains the following instruments:
Two Perkin-Elmer Chemagic MSM I for automated high throughput nucleic acid (NA) isolation systems, based on proprietary M-PVA magnetic bead technology. Provides ultra-clean NA preps from saliva, mouthrinses, small tissues, frozen blood and buffy coats: >96 samples per 8 hour period.
A Purigen Biosystem’s Ionic Purification System for automated purification of nucleic acids from small cell numbers and FFPE scrolls or slides requires less than 3 minutes of hands-on time per sample (lysis included). For DNA/RNA purification with this system, no chemical deparaffinization is required. In addition, nucleic acids are automatically separated and concentrated from sample lysate in 60 minutes.
