The BSP facility contains the following instruments:

Two Perkin-Elmer Chemagic 360 magnetic bead robotic platforms for automated high throughput isolation of nucleic acids. Based on proprietary M-PVA magnetic bead technology, the Chemagic 360 provides ultra-clean preps from saliva, mouth rinses, small tissues, frozen blood and buffy coats.

A Purigen Biosystem‘s Ionic Purification System for automated purification of nucleic acids from small cell numbers and FFPE scrolls or slides requires less than 3 minutes of hands-on time per sample (lysis included). For DNA/RNA purification with this system, no chemical deparaffinization is required. In addition, nucleic acids are automatically separated and concentrated from sample lysate in 60 minutes.
